Classes through Acton Boxborough Community Education
Beginner and Intermediate Class - 8 week
Whether you would like to explore pastels for the first time or continue to develop your skills, this class will provide a small supported group in which to explore and grow. We will discuss principles of composition, value structure, color relationships, and how these contribute to a successful painting. We will explore different painting techniques, different painting surfaces (including how they affect the painting), and different approaches to under-painting. Students will start painting the first night.
A list of needed supplies will be provided to students in advance. Expected cost of supplies, including pastels, is about $150 dollars. Either a table top or standing easel will be required and is not included in this cost. Pastels and pastel paper can be difficult to obtain through local stores; however, these items may be purchased either through the instructor or online.
The fall Beginner and Intermediate 8 wk class meets Thursdays September 17th through November 12th (skipping September 24th) from 7-9 pm.
Night Scenes - Intermediate and Advanced Class - 6 week
This class will focus on how to paint night scenes. I find night scenes exciting and colorful. We will learn how to get lights to glow and how to show the reflected light. The student will be assumed to have a basic mastery of the pastel medium and to have an initial set of pastels to work with.
The Night Scenes 6 wk class meets Tuesdays September 22nd through October 27th from 7-9 pm.
